The only bad thing about going to the Smoky Mountains at the end of May is...

missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs!

Especially since the Detroit Red Wings are playing their long-time rivals, the Avalanche.

The Solution:

Having our very own hockey tournament while on vacation!

Read the results!

The Players

Amanda

A longtime fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Amanda is the favorite to win the 2002 Smoky Mountain Hockey Tourney. Why? Just because she's a Wings fan, and the Wings RULE!

Plus, every time she runs into an air hockey table, her competitive spirit emerges and she must challenge her sister (Amy) to at least two games. So with their own air hockey table in their cabin for four days and no quarters required to play, you better believe this hockey tournament is gonna last into the early hours of the morning...every day!

Amanda's Strategies for Winning:

"I'm gonna hit the puck as hard as possible, plus a few one-timers reflected off the edge of the table usually stun my hockey-illiterate opponent. And I'm almost tempted to take a good luck charm - my Stevie Y jersey."

Amanda will represent the Red Wings in this year's tourney.
"The Man"

Steve Yzerman, of the Detroit Red Wings

"I'm gonna be a winner just like Stevie is."--Amanda

Amy

A fan of the Phoenix Coyotes (only because she thinks their logo is cool), Amy is convinced that she will win the 2002 Tourney. Why? Because younger sisters are better.

And every time Amy runs into an air hockey table, she gets one idea in her head - being better at air hockey than her hockey-loving sister.

Amy's Strategies for Winning:

"Hockey has nothing to do with air hockey. So hockey-illiteracy has nothing to do with this tournament. Plus, I have the advantage of youth - I'm faster and am more agile than my 21 year-old opponent. I have the reflexes of a cat! Sting like a butterfly; float like a bee!!!"

Amy would have represented the Lame Ducks of Anaheim, but her love of the cute coyote logo convinced her otherwise.
Amy's favorite hockey player is herself.

"Real hockey players are losers." --Amy
